Roots of Discipline

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was born on 29 January 1970 in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, into a family rooted in service and discipline. His father, Col Lakshman Singh Rathore, an Indian Army leader, and his mother, Manju Raghav Bhondsi, a teacher, instilled values of courage, duty, and perseverance in him.

Growing up in an army family, Rajyavardhan imbibed these values, which led to his distinguished military career in India. His journey began at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune, where he excelled both in academics and as a sportsman, setting a foundation for his future as an Indian military officer.

After completing his training at NDA and the Indian Military Academy, Rajyavardhan was commissioned into the 9th Grenadiers (Mewar) Regiment on 15 December 1990. Over the years, he rose through the ranks: Lieutenant (1992), Captain (1995), Major (2000), Lieutenant Colonel in 2004, and finally Col in 2009.

His service included pivotal assignments, such as counter-terrorism operations in Jammu & Kashmir and leadership roles during the Kargil conflict. His experiences in these high-stakes environments shaped not only his leadership but also his understanding of sacrifice and strategy in national defense. Rajyavardhan retired in 2013, leaving behind a legacy of service that continues to inspire those pursuing military careers in India.
